MODERNITY

To those armchair intellectuals, who talk of modernity, rationality, and scientific, I would request to stop for a moment and think about the price the human race is paying for the euphoria of power and comforts presumably attached with these. Think about the pollution, nuclear and chemical weapons, threats of war, hypertension and scores of other such anti-human things attached with misinterpretation and misuse of concepts connected with those terms.

They should also study the models of the societies covered by these terms, and see the direction in which those societies are heading to now. If fifty plus years of drifting towards modernity etc. has brought our country to the brink of disaster, what further pursuit would do would be frightening to imagine.

In my humble opinion, in the context of human social application, modern is that which is an improvement over the past, not just different from the past; rational is that which is beneficially reasonable not just abstractly reasonable; and scientific is that which is irrefutably proved or disproved on a much longer time-scale not just that which is branded scientific by commercial and other shades of exploiters.
